We could be in for another hot summer down on the Surf Coast, Bellarine Peninsula and Geelong, so here are Champion Blinds top tips on how to stay cool this summer without air conditioning.
- Cooling your house from the outside is more effective than cooling it from inside. External blinds, cafe blinds and Helioshade awnings are perfect for this.
- Keep your blinds or shutters closed during the day.
- Portable fans or ceiling fans can keep the air circulating and draw the heat to the ceiling.
- Turn off electrical heat sources (incandescent light bulbs use around 80% of their energy to create heat rather than light). Turn off the TV, it also generates a lot of heat.
- Avoid using the oven or stove and use the microwave if possible.
- When outside, sit in the shade. If your yard doesn’t have a lot of shade, consider our shade sail umbrellas to move and rotate with the sun, giving you shade all day round.
From all the staff at Champion Blinds we wish you all a Merry (and cool) Christmas.
